Tuna Fish Casserole

The Household Searchlight Recipe Book, 1936

This book came with several handwritten recipes on notepaper tucked in the back. These notes, and the recipes written on the endpapers are in 3 different hands suggesting this book has passed thru several cooks before making it from Mrs. D.B. Holt of Mobile, AL (one name and address in the front) to someone associated with the Joe Virgeson Lumber Co. of Columbia, S.C.(the header at the top of the notepad one recipe was written on) to the Midwest.

Here's a spin on tuna casserole that's new to me.

Tuna Fish casserole
1 can mushroom soup
1 can tuna fish
1 empty soup can full of milk
Ritz crackers
Mix milk and soup. Crumble crackers and line dish with same, then add a layer of tuna. Pour part of soup mixture over this. Add some more crumbled crackers. Another layer of tuna. Rest of soup mixture and top with more crackers. Bake for about 30 minutes at 325°.
