Quickly Made Cinnamon Buns

from the Hamilton Ross Modern Cook Book, by K. Camille Den Dooven, 1940

2 1/2 cups flour
3 T butter
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 t salt
4 t baking powder
1/2 c powdered sugar
1 t cinnamon
1 cup raisins

Sift half of the sugar with flour, salt, and baking powder; rub in the butter lightly, add egg and milk slowly, and make a smooth dough. Roll out one-quarter of an inch thick on floured board, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with rest of sugar, cinnamon, and raisins, and roll up into a roll. Cut this roll into two inch pieces and place with cut edges upon a battered pan. Bake in an oven at a temperature of 400 degrees F. When baked, remove from pan and serve.

Gonna give this one a try this weekend. We'll see.

Since this dough is more like a baking powder biscuit instead of a gooey yeasty cinnamon bun, these tasted dryer, like scones. Good flavor but different than what I think of when I think cinnamon rolls. I'd make them again.
